Creative Curriculum Design
A Blackburn primary school, in special measures at the time, took the bold step of re-designing their curriculum in an attempt to make learninng more relevant, enjoyable and accessible for their children. Two terms of planning and consultation, under the support and guidance of Unipace, led to the estblishment of their creative curriculum. Feedback from staff was extremely positive and Unipace is still involved in the monitoring and support of their work, which continues to grow and develop. The school recently came out of special measures: Ofsted remarked on the obvious progress, "There have been significant developments to the curriculum in recent months, including the introduction of a creative curriculum and an intensive focus on improving pupils literacy skills. The good changes to the curriculum and the wide variety of experiences the children receive have helped to make learning more interesting and better suited to meeting their needs."
Network Learning Community Presentation
As part of the NLC secondary English network programme, Unipace was asked to lead a session for staff on Presentation skills. It was felt that young people were increasingly becoming less confident in delivering presentations so themes covered included use of body language, voice projection and how to combat nerves.
